Bob Sweet Quartet

The Bob Sweet Quartet included drummer Bob Sweet, pianist Tad Weed, multi-instrumentalist Andrew Bishop on saxophones, flute, and clarinet, and bassist Kurt Krahnke. Andrew Bishop is also a jazz educator and scholar with collaborations including legends like Ray Charles and John Zorn, teaching at the University of Michigan. Kurt Krahnke is a highly sought-after bassist with a strong background performing along the East Coast and with numerous jazz greats. Bob Sweet has been a core figure in Detroit and Southeast Michigan’s jazz, soul, pop, and blues scenes since the 1970s. Tad Weed, known for his versatility across jazz styles, currently teaches jazz piano at the University of Toledo. Their performance blended high-energy playing with diverse compositions and inventive improvisations that thrilled attendees.
