Chris Smither Concert

Chris Smither grew up in New Orleans and started playing music as a child, learning basics on his mother’s ukulele from a family member. His music is deeply rooted in blues, especially inspired by Lightnin’ Hopkins, whose sound once made him think two guitarists were playing simultaneously. At his concert in The Ark, Ann Arbor, he presented songs from his latest album, 'All About the Bones,' featuring eight new songs plus covers of Eliza Gilkyson and Tom Petty. Joined by David Goodrich, Zak Trojano, BettySoo, and jazz saxophonist Chris Cheek, the performance combined a baroque, austere vibe with a rich, minimalist sound.
