Victor Wooten & The Wooten Brothers
Victor Wooten & The Wooten Brothers play the Royal Oak Music Theatre in Royal Oak on Monday, November 16, at 7 p.m. Rolling Stone named Victor one of the ten greatest bass players of all time, and the family band has 10 Grammy wins.
The Wooten brothers first performed in public in Hawaii in 1966 and were known as prodigies from the start. Victor plays with his brothers Regi, Roy and Joseph. Together they have won 10 Grammys and earned 26 nominations.
They began in R&B, then moved into jazz, jazz fusion, classical and country as teenagers. Their 1985 Arista album, The Wootens, mixed electronic, funk, soul, disco and boogie. Live and on record, they build bridges between genres.
The show starts at 7 p.m. and is scheduled to run until 11 p.m. It's presented by The Ark.
