North Pole Express (Pere Marquette 1225)
The Steam Railroading Institute’s North Pole Express leaves Owosso on Friday, December 11, 2026 (5 p.m.): Pere Marquette 1225, the model for the Polar Express engine, pulls it to Ashley’s Country Christmas, 4 hours 45 minutes round trip. Coach is $85, but every seat was sold out as of October 18.
Pere Marquette 1225’s blueprints and sounds became the animated Polar Express engine. The Christmas train runs from Owosso to Ashley’s Country Christmas, with about two hours there to meet Santa, then back. Tickets only from the Steam Railroading Institute; the historic cars are not wheelchair accessible.
