She Kills Monsters
Planet Ant Theatre stages Qui Nguyen's She Kills Monsters on Friday, December 18, at 8 p.m. at Ant Hall in Hamtramck. It's part comedy, part heartfelt drama, part Dungeons & Dragons adventure. Tickets are available online.
When Agnes Evans loses her teenage sister Tilly, she realizes she barely knew her. Tilly's Dungeons & Dragons notebook pulls Agnes into a fantastical world of epic quests, homicidal fairies, snarling ogres, and 90s pop culture as she tries to reconnect with her sister and find courage she never knew she had.
The play is equal parts comedy, drama, and action-packed adventure, and it celebrates great storytelling and the geek and warrior in all of us. The run goes from December 4 to 19.
Content advisory: strong language, stage combat, sexual references, and themes of grief, bullying, and suicide. Recommended for ages 13+.
