She Kills Monsters
Planet Ant Theatre stages Qui Nguyen's She Kills Monsters starting Friday, December 4, at 8 p.m. at Ant Hall in Hamtramck. It's part comedy, part heartfelt drama and part fantasy adventure, packed with Dungeons & Dragons and 90s pop culture. Tickets are available online.
After Agnes Evans loses her teenage sister Tilly, she realizes she barely knew her. Tilly's Dungeons & Dragons notebook drags Agnes into a world of epic quests, homicidal fairies and snarling ogres, as she tries to reconnect with her sister and find courage she didn't know she had.
The play is funny, moving and full of action, a celebration of great storytelling and the geek and warrior in all of us. The run goes from December 4 through 19.
Content advisory: strong language, stage combat, sexual references, and themes of grief, bullying and suicide. Recommended for ages 13+.
