Schmaltz // Warren & Flick
Ann Arbor's modern klezmer band Schmaltz and the duo Warren & Flick share the stage on Thursday, January 7, at 8 p.m. at The Ark in Ann Arbor. Expect klezmer spiked with jazz, Balkan and funk next to adventurous chamber-folk; tickets are $24.
Schmaltz blends traditional Jewish music with jazz, Balkan, funk, Latin and polka. Many members are University of Michigan School of Music, Theater & Dance graduates, and their debut album, "The Seltzer Man," leans on a roaring horn section.
Warren & Flick pair Jacob Warren on double bass and tenor bass with Grant Flick on violin, tenor guitar and nyckelharpa. They mix original compositions and improvisation with classical, jazz and folk traditions. Their newest record is Cormorant (2025).
Online and phone prices include the ticket processing fee. You can buy in person at The Ark's box office during its hours with no added fees.
