Meadow Brook Hall has put on its Holiday Walk for more than 50 years. You wander through the 110-room estate on your own, from the Grand Ballroom to the Sun Porch, past about 50 trees, flickering fireplaces and lots of lights. The mansion is a National Historic Landmark, built by Matilda Dodge Wilson between 1926 and 1929 and a prime example of Tudor-revival architecture.

The walk takes about an hour, is open to all ages and runs rain, snow or shine. Start times go every half hour from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The hall closes from 4 to 5:30 p.m. daily to reset the tour route. Parking is free in Lot 61. On Santa Saturdays (Nov. 29, Dec. 6, 13 and 20), Santa joins in too.
