Charlie Parr Concert

Charlie Parr’s music is rooted in sincere conviction and a strong creative drive. The blues poet draws from his working-class upbringing and folk legends like Lead Belly and Woody Guthrie, creating a sound that echoes past blues and folk icons. When he plays his resonator or 12-string guitar, you can hear influences like Rev. Gary Davis and Doc Watson, whose two-finger picking style Parr adopted after a focal dystonia diagnosis. His 2024 album, "Little Sun," weaves stories of music, community, and nature. The evening at Ann Arbor’s The Ark included an opening set by the modern folk duo Two Runner before Parr took the stage.
