Bird Walks

Edsel & Eleanor Ford House hosts a guided bird walk led by knowledgeable local birders on Saturday, October 10, at 8 a.m. at Ford House in Grosse Pointe Shores. You'll cover shoreline, meadows, woods and gardens; tickets are required.

The walk lasts about two hours and moves through several habitats on the estate: shoreline, meadows, wooded areas and gardens. Local birders lead the way and explain how the landscape and the season shape the birdlife. Every walk is different, depending on weather and migration. It suits seasoned birders and beginners alike.

Paths are a mix of paved and unpaved, so wear waterproof walking shoes and dress for the weather. Muted colors help avoid disturbing wildlife. Bring binoculars if you have them; a limited number are available to borrow. Afterward, coffee or tea and a chance to swap sightings.

In severe weather the program is canceled. Tickets can be donated to support Ford House's educational initiatives or exchanged for a future program.
