Leslie Bricusse turned Dickens’ A Christmas Carol into the 1970 screen musical Scrooge!, later adapted for the stage—now brought to the Hilberry Gateway by Wayne State University Theatre and Dance. The show has toured England and ran at London’s Dominion Theatre starring the late Anthony Newley, and this version features six numbers that weren’t in the film.
Scrooge! exists in two formats—a full-length musical and a 55-minute adaptation for smaller groups and schools—and is presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals.
