One Monkey Don’t Stop No Show

Suburban Philly sets the stage: Reverend Avery Harrison clings to his place in the local Black elite. His ambitious wife Myra keeps tripping over her own malapropisms, and their son Felix discovers sex thanks to a clandestine manual and the ever-charming Li’l Bits. Then niece Beverly arrives from the rural South with news she’s been left in the custody of Caleb Johnson—a fast-talking partner from her late father’s shady nightclub—and the dominoes start to fall: passions reignite, a possible pregnancy looms, and Beverly proves savvier than anyone expects.

Presented by Wayne State University Theatre and Dance at the Hilberry Gateway. ONE MONKEY DON’T STOP NO SHOW is presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals on behalf of Dramatists Play Service. Tickets available.
