Verdi's Otello hits the big screen on Saturday, April 24, at 1 p.m. at the Ramsdell Regional Center for the Arts in Manistee. Tenor Brian Jagde sings the title role opposite soprano Ailyn Pérez as Desdemona. Tickets are available online.
Verdi's Shakespearean tragedy follows a triumphant war hero whose jealousy and his enemies' hatred drive him to ruin. It's often called the ultimate Italian opera.
Brian Jagde, seen in La Forza del Destino, takes on the tour-de-force title role. Soprano Ailyn Pérez, known for Florencia en el Amazonas and Falstaff, sings Desdemona.
The runtime is 200 minutes, so plan on being done around 4:30 p.m. The RRCA is the organizer.
