Susan Werner's career spans over two decades, earning recognition as a highly innovative songwriter. She began playing guitar at age five and is also accomplished on piano, having appeared on Marian McPartland’s Piano Jazz. Holding a graduate degree in voice performance, her concerts serve as a showcase of her musicianship. While known primarily for her acoustic folk roots, Werner has composed songs in a wide variety of styles including Gershwin and Cole Porter influences, gospel, traditional Cuban son, and New Orleans junk piano. In 2014, she composed the music and lyrics for the musical theater production Bull Durham, The Musical. Her songs have been recorded by artists such as Tom Jones and Michael Feinstein. Her most recent album of originals, The Birds of Florida, was released in 2022.
