Reception for Neoliberal Loops - Rozsa Art Galleries

Neoliberal Loops is a collection of artworks by Emma C. Johnson that examines themes of neoliberalism, postfeminism, and economic precarity as interpreted through visual culture. The works span multiple mediums such as painting, printmaking, photography, video, sound, and text, with the medium chosen according to the concept.

The project features three connected works centered around the theme of financial crisis, incorporating elements like music/sound, digital video, photography, text displayed on moving LED lights, and letterpress on paper. This exhibition creates a space for reflection on capitalism, representation, and feminism, inviting viewers to reconsider commonly accepted ideas about neoliberalism.

Emma C. Johnson developed this project with support from Michigan Technological University’s Math and Music Lab, combining mathematics, visual and performing arts, and humanities into an interdisciplinary framework. The artworks were presented at the Rozsa Art Galleries in Houghton, accompanied by a reception event where Johnson discussed her work.
