Bignamini Conducts Abels & Strauss: Heroes, Dances & Triumph
Jader Bignamini leads the Detroit Symphony Orchestra on Friday, June 11, at 8 p.m. at Orchestra Hall in Detroit, with Strauss's Ein Heldenleben as the big finish. Tickets run $20.95 to $110.25.
The first half opens with the infectious rhythms of Michael Abels's Delights and Dances. Then comes Tchaikovsky's Variations on a Rococo Theme, with cellist Johannes Moser, whom The Times called "remarkable." After that, Bignamini and the orchestra take on Richard Strauss's swaggering, expressive Ein Heldenleben.
