This program runs hot and restless. Dobrinka Tabakova's Orpheus' Comet opens with a grand fanfare rising out of fluttering orchestral textures. Trifonov brings electrifying virtuosity to Prokofiev's Second Piano Concerto, and Bignamini and the DSO close with Shostakovich's Fifth, ending in a fireball of light.

A 30-minute pre-concert talk starts one hour before the music at Orchestra Hall. Seating for it is general admission, so you can try a different spot than your ticket. The concert is part of the PVS Classical series.
