This program is a journey to beginnings. In ARCHORA, Anna Thorvaldsdóttir looks for the origins of life in music shaped by primordial forces. Katherine Balch’s violin concerto Artifacts is a fond tribute to her friendship with DSO Concertmaster Robyn Bollinger. Beethoven’s Fifth grows a whole world from the smallest musical seed.

PVS Classical performances come with a 30-minute pre-concert talk one hour before the music, except Friday morning Coffee Concerts. Conductors, musicians and other experts share the story behind the works. Seating for the talk is general admission in Orchestra Hall, so you can try a different seat than your ticket's.

The Saturday, January 16, 8 p.m. ET concert can also be watched online on Live from Orchestra Hall, the DSO's YouTube channel and its Facebook page.
