Detroit Community Ensembles

The Detroit Community Orchestra and Detroit Community Concert Band share the stage on Tuesday, February 2, at 6:30 p.m. at Orchestra Hall in Detroit. Maritza Garibay conducts the orchestra and Damien Crutcher leads the band. Tickets are $15.

The Detroit Community Orchestra is made up of Detroit-based musicians of all ages and experience levels, playing everything from classical to contemporary works. Its director, Maritza Garibay, is a violinist, composer and music educator who now also explores sound with homemade analog synthesizers and effects.

The Detroit Community Band has grown to more than 110 members since 2016. It's led by Damien Crutcher, a Detroit native and co-founder and CEO of Crescendo Detroit. H. Robert Reynolds has appeared as a guest conductor with the band in the past.
