Brandee Younger & Lakecia Benjamin in Concert
Harpist Brandee Younger and saxophonist Lakecia Benjamin share the stage on Friday, March 26, at 8 p.m. at Orchestra Hall in Detroit. It's a Paradise Jazz night rooted in jazz, with classical, soul, R&B and hip-hop in the mix. Tickets run $25.55 to $108.95.
Brandee Younger is a harpist, composer and bandleader steeped in the music of spiritual jazz pioneer Alice Coltrane. Her latest album, Gadabout Season, centers on her original compositions and tells an open-ended story of life's highs and lows.
Lakecia Benjamin is a saxophonist, composer and arranger who also draws on Alice and John Coltrane, but her sound is all her own: melodic, assertive and vital. The concert is presented by the Detroit Symphony Orchestra as part of its Paradise Jazz series, at 3711 Woodward Avenue.
