Kris Johnson's Groove Party
Trumpeter Kris Johnson and the Kris Johnson Group lead a family music morning on Saturday, January 9, at 10 a.m. at The Cube in the Max M. & Marjorie S. Fisher Music Center in Detroit. It's part of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra's Tiny Tots series, and tickets are $12.60.
Kids and grown-ups dig into what makes Detroit music tick: groove. From swing and blues to Motown and hip-hop, the show gets the audience feeling the beat in a new way, and shows how each instrument in a band fits together.
Free family activities run from 9:30 to 11 a.m., with instrument try-outs, arts and crafts, and more. The venue is at 3711 Woodward Avenue in Detroit.
