Join the American Red Cross Parent & Child Aquatics program at the SDC Pool in Houghton for ages 6 months to 3 years. A parent must accompany the child in the water. The course helps children become comfortable with water and teaches swimming readiness, while providing important water safety information for parents.

The Henry Ford's evening Halloween walk returns to Greenfield Village in Dearborn for its 46th season, October 1–4, 8–11, 15–18 and 22–25 (Thursdays to Sundays), 6–9:30 p.m., with more than 50 costumed characters and scenes from The Wizard of Oz and The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. Tickets run $28–$42, and several nights sell out, so book early.
