The Henry Ford's evening Halloween walk returns to Greenfield Village in Dearborn for its 46th season, October 1–4, 8–11, 15–18 and 22–25 (Thursdays to Sundays), 6–9:30 p.m., with more than 50 costumed characters and scenes from The Wizard of Oz and The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. Tickets run $28–$42, and several nights sell out, so book early.

From October 2 through November 1, Blake's Big Apple in Armada goes full spooky every Friday, Saturday and Sunday night with zombie paintball, a haunted hayride, a 3-story haunted barn and the family-friendly Spookyland. The Detroit Zoological Society throws a strictly 21+ Halloween costume party at the Detroit Zoo in Royal Oak on Friday, October 2, from 6:30 to 10 p.m. (VIP entry at 6), with more than 100 craft drink tastings, live music and a costume contest.
