Silents at the Senate marks 100 years of Faust (1926) with an anniversary screening at the Senate Theater, 6424 Michigan Avenue in Detroit, on Saturday, October 17, 2026, at 8 p.m.. It's a century-old silent film, back on a movie-house screen with an audience around you.

The Detroit Free Press Marathon starts at 7 a.m. on Sunday, October 18, 2026, from Fort Street downtown: the full and the International Half cross the Ambassador Bridge into Windsor, Canada, come back through the Detroit-Windsor Tunnel and finish on Woodward just south of Campus Martius. The marathon and halves are sold out, but Saturday's 5K is open through October 8 while spots last, and anyone can cheer at the finish chute.
