(sub)surface, a fully accessible group exhibition for people with visual impairments, runs Thursday, September 10 through Saturday, October 24 at Swords Into Plowshares Peace Center and Gallery in Detroit during Detroit Month of Design. Free admission; the gallery is open Fri–Sat 1–6 p.m.

Mosaic Productions’ collaborative exhibition (Interpretation Show #9) runs Saturday, September 19, through October 17 at Office Space Gallery in Detroit, with the opening reception on Saturday, September 19, at 6 p.m. Photographers shot from their cars and artists reinterpreted the images—40+ participants, curated by Tim Tonachella and Billy Hunter.

M1 Concourse hosts the American Speed Festival from Friday, October 2, through Sunday, October 4, at M1 Concourse in Pontiac. Expect legendary drivers, rare cars, and immersive track action; tickets run $55–$300.

Pontiac's long-running Erebus haunted attraction is back with its Primordium storyline at 18 South Perry St., open October 1–4, 7–11, 13–18 and 20–31, plus November 1, 6 and 7. Tickets are sold by date on the official Erebus calendar, $25–$42 depending on the night.

Diehl's Orchard & Cider Mill in Holly runs hayrides every Saturday and Sunday from October 3 through October 18, weather permitting. Rides are $3, and kids 3 and under ride free.

The Long family has farmed the same stretch of Commerce Road since 1876, and for their 150th fall the Fun Farm is open Fridays through Sundays, October 2 through November 1, with 20+ attractions, a corn maze and a hayride to the U-Pick Pumpkin Patch. Admission is $19 online or $21 at the gate.

On Sundays October 4, 11, 18 and 25, 1–4 p.m., balloon artist John Winslow twists free balloon creations at Goodison Cider Mill in Rochester, with free live music most Sunday afternoons. It all depends on weather and crowds, so call ahead.

After the jaw-dropping BLACK HOLE in 2025, Shamel Pitts | TRIBE is back in Ann Arbor on Sunday, October 4, 2026, at 2 p.m. with its newest work, Marks of Red, presented by UMS (University Musical Society).
