The Long family has farmed the same stretch of Commerce Road since 1876, and for their 150th fall the Fun Farm is open Fridays through Sundays, October 2 through November 1, with 20+ attractions, a corn maze and a hayride to the U-Pick Pumpkin Patch. Admission is $19 online or $21 at the gate.

The Detroit Riverfront Conservancy throws Detroit Harvest Fest on Saturday and Sunday, October 3 and 4, 11 a.m.–8 p.m., at Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Centennial Park, with live entertainment, local vendors, a food truck rally, full bars, a pumpkin patch and kids' activities. The Henry Ford's evening Halloween walk returns to Greenfield Village in Dearborn for its 46th season, October 1–4, 8–11, 15–18 and 22–25 (Thursdays to Sundays), 6–9:30 p.m., with more than 50 costumed characters and scenes from The Wizard of Oz and The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. Tickets run $28–$42, and several nights sell out, so book early.

Before the scares start, the City of Dearborn hosts a calm, sensory-friendly trick-or-treat walk on the Ford Field Park trail on Friday, October 16, 5:30–6:30 p.m., for families who prefer treats over tricks. It's free, and the city encourages registering ahead.

The City of Birmingham throws a free Halloween costume party in downtown's Shain Park on Saturday, October 24, 10 a.m.–2 p.m., with costume contests, bounce houses, an exotic zoo, food trucks and dance parties. Kids can pick and decorate a pumpkin, get their faces painted and ride the train.

On Sunday, October 25, Meadow Brook Hall in Rochester lets kids trick-or-treat along the estate's woodland paths and through the first floor of the historic mansion, with games, crafts, cider and donuts in a heated Garden Tent. Advance timed-entry tickets are required ($20 youth, $10 adults), and every slot is expected to sell out.
