Blake's Big Apple in Armada throws a moonlit fall market on two Fridays, October 2 and October 16, starting at 5 p.m., with spooky-themed vendors, handmade goods, treats, live music and bonfires. It's free, you just need to RSVP.

On Sundays October 4, 11, 18 and 25, 1–4 p.m., balloon artist John Winslow twists free balloon creations at Goodison Cider Mill in Rochester, with free live music most Sunday afternoons. It all depends on weather and crowds, so call ahead.

The City of Birmingham throws a free Halloween costume party in downtown's Shain Park on Saturday, October 24, 10 a.m.–2 p.m., with costume contests, bounce houses, an exotic zoo, food trucks and dance parties. Kids can pick and decorate a pumpkin, get their faces painted and ride the train.
