Organized by Downtown Birmingham, the Birmingham Farmers Market runs Sundays from May 3 to October 25, 2026, 9 a.m.–2 p.m., at Public Parking Lot 6 in Birmingham. Expect Michigan-grown produce, meat and dairy, flowers, artisan goods, plus live music and food trucks.

The Henry Ford's evening Halloween walk returns to Greenfield Village in Dearborn for its 46th season, October 1–4, 8–11, 15–18 and 22–25 (Thursdays to Sundays), 6–9:30 p.m., with more than 50 costumed characters and scenes from The Wizard of Oz and The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. Tickets run $28–$42, and several nights sell out, so book early.

Planet D Nonet (PD9) is a streamlined version of the big bands from the 1930s, often featuring guest vocalists to expand their performance versatility. Their lineup recalls the earliest big bands during swing's evolution, blending small-group agility with a larger harmonic palette.

On Sundays October 4, 11, 18 and 25, 1–4 p.m., balloon artist John Winslow twists free balloon creations at Goodison Cider Mill in Rochester, with free live music most Sunday afternoons. It all depends on weather and crowds, so call ahead.

Russ Macklem is a Detroit/Windsor-based trumpeter, composer, educator and recording artist. His 2023 debut album, The South Detroit Connection, was JUNO-nominated and was the first live album recorded in Windsor in 22 years. The Russ Macklem Detroit Quintet performs regularly across the Midwest.

WHFR 89.3 FM hosts its annual WHFR Record Show on Saturday, October 10, at 9 a.m. at Henry Ford College’s Student Center (Building M) in Dearborn. Thousands of records, CDs, videos, and music memorabilia from independent local and out-of-state vendors. Admission: $10 early 9–10 a.m.; $1–$5 sliding scale 10 a.m.–4 p.m.
