The Detroit Free Press Marathon starts at 7 a.m. on Sunday, October 18, 2026, from Fort Street downtown: the full and the International Half cross the Ambassador Bridge into Windsor, Canada, come back through the Detroit-Windsor Tunnel and finish on Woodward just south of Campus Martius. The marathon and halves are sold out, but Saturday's 5K is open through October 8 while spots last, and anyone can cheer at the finish chute.

Affirmations LGBTQ+ Community Center hosts the Queer Parent Pop-Up on Saturday, October 24, at 10 a.m. at the Affirmations Intergenerational Community Room in Ferndale. Kids are welcome, especially ages 6–12. It’s free with advance registration.

On Sunday, October 25, Meadow Brook Hall in Rochester lets kids trick-or-treat along the estate's woodland paths and through the first floor of the historic mansion, with games, crafts, cider and donuts in a heated Garden Tent. Advance timed-entry tickets are required ($20 youth, $10 adults), and every slot is expected to sell out.
