The Detroit Free Press Marathon starts at 7 a.m. on Sunday, October 18, 2026, from Fort Street downtown: the full and the International Half cross the Ambassador Bridge into Windsor, Canada, come back through the Detroit-Windsor Tunnel and finish on Woodward just south of Campus Martius. The marathon and halves are sold out, but Saturday's 5K is open through October 8 while spots last, and anyone can cheer at the finish chute.

The MHSAA 11-player football finals are played at Ford Field on Friday and Saturday, November 27-28, 2026. One $20 day ticket gets you into all four championship games that day.

Duke and Gonzaga meet in a regular-season men's college basketball game at Little Caesars Arena on Saturday, February 20, 2027, streaming on Prime Video. Neither team is from Michigan, so Detroit is the neutral stage; tip time and the on-sale date are still to come.

The Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix runs June 4-6, 2027, on the downtown street circuit along Jefferson Avenue and the Riverwalk, with INDYCAR, IMSA sports cars and INDY NXT. Friday, June 4, is Free Prix Day with free admission; tickets for the weekend are at detroitgp.com.
